Industrial Light & Magic. SenSpa’s exterior has a utilitarian look, but the interior is a 13,000 square foot sanctuary. Decor reflects the fact that services are based on Eastern and Western healing practices. Imagine orange lounge chairs with padded backs, potted plants and Buddha statues.
Bring us into the Senspa room. What was your experience?
SenSpa focuses less on the aesthetic benefits of spa treatments and more on healing, with an “”integrated approach to well-being.””. David Spencer, the spa’s founder and owner, has dedicated his life to health and well-being after an accident at 19 left him with no use of a limb and one arm.
This commitment to healing is reflected in massage therapists that ask specific questions about the pressure used and any underlying issues. It also translates into educational classes to help clients learn how to do new things every day.
The treatment rooms have been designed with sound-resistant walls and soothing tones. There are also spaces for couples. Menu includes massages and facials as well as LED light therapy, naturopathic medicine, and alignment services.
Nice. After the treatment, what happens?
Relax in any of the four relaxation lounges. There are four to choose from: a tea-garden, where you can chat with friends and family on club chairs; a quiet room with twin-flame fireplaces; or a bamboo garden filled with green plants and natural light.
The warming room is the perfect place to relax alone. If you want to host a party with co-workers or friends, there is a group room. The men’s and women’s locker rooms both have a lemongrass bath and products, as well as plush bathrobes.
SenSpa has its own café, which serves food and wines from local favorites like The Plant, Blue Bottle Coffee and Matanzas Creek Winery. You can snack on hummus, crudites, or something more substantial like a Cobb Salad or a Chicken Avocado Sandwich. SenSpa, located at the edge a national forest, is more of a wellness and relaxation spa. It’s not a mani/pedi place with champagne and a pool. Budget extra time for relaxing in the lounges and enjoying the sauna and café.
